These are a bit messy to make and the turmeric turns your juicer and your hands orange. If you are not interested in making these on your own, a pre-made version of them can be bought in most supermarkets. They can be found locally-made at The Village Juice and Kitchen in Harrisonburg, a place you should definitely check out for all kinds of healthy juices and meals!
Ginger Turmeric Immunity Shots
- 1 High Quality Juicer Mine is Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer Pro
- 1 lb fresh turmeric root
- 1 lb fresh ginger root
- 2 Tbsp black peppercorns
- 1 10 oz bottle pineapple juice
- 3 lemons
- Rinse ginger and turmeric root and whole lemons in fruit and veggie soak to remove chemicals and dirt. I do this even when using organic. I halve the lemons to run through the juicer and break the roots into some smaller pieces. Run everything except the pineapple juice through the juicer. Add the pineapple juice and pour into individual serving bottles or store in a glass jar and pour a 1/4 cup serving per day. Use two a day when fighting illness. I buy my ginger and turmeric root in bulk and store in freezer. They produce much more juice when thawed, so be sure to set them out a few hours before juicing. This recipe can produce anywhere from 12-16 or so individual bottles. Drink within two weeks.
